Threepeat in York County: Tim Gets 3 Cases in York County Courts Filed

Posted by Tim Zerillo | Dec 20, 2018 | 0 Comments

Its been a busy last week or so in York County Courts.  We had 3 consecutive cases filed in York County Courts.  These Courts include the District Courts in York, Biddeford and the Superior Court in Alfred.  The 3 cases involved various charges, including: Assault, Criminal Threatening, Theft and Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention.

A "filing"  is a legal procedure discussed in Rule 11B of the Maine Rules of Unified Criminal Procedure.  Essentially, a filing is simply a delayed dismissal.  If the defendants in these cases do not commit new criminal conduct within the filing period - usually a year - the cases are automatically dismissed.  Unlike a deferred disposition, a filing does not require that the defendant enter a plea.  Rather, the cases are simply dismissed after the filing period elapses.

Congratulations to our clients on these results.
